Hello everyone, and welcome to Sober in Solidarity: A Month of Strength for Breast Cancer Awareness. I’m deeply grateful that you’re here today, joining us on this life-changing journey. Together, we are taking a stand—for ourselves, for our loved ones, and for every woman who has battled, or is battling, breast cancer.
October marks Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and this year, we’re going beyond simply raising awareness. We’re making a commitment—a commitment to health, sobriety, and solidarity with the women who inspire us every day with their courage and strength.
For the next 31 days, we pledge to stay sober. But this isn’t just about giving up alcohol. It’s about removing anything in our lives that stands in the way of us being our healthiest and strongest selves. For some, that may mean eliminating unhealthy foods, stress, negative thinking, or habits that hold us back. Whatever it is, we are in this together—one choice, one day at a time.
Why Sobriety?
Sobriety symbolizes strength—the strength to say ‘no’ to what doesn’t serve us, and the strength to support the fighters, survivors, and those we’ve lost to breast cancer. Every sober day is an opportunity to lift up the voices of those impacted by breast cancer and stand in solidarity with them.
We know it won’t always be easy. There will be moments of weakness, times when temptation will strike. But each of these moments becomes an opportunity for action. When you feel the urge, here are a few alternatives to help you stay committed:
• Say a prayer, lifting up the name of someone who needs strength.
• Call a friend, someone who can remind you why this commitment matters.
• Do 10 jumping jacks, to get your body moving and mind refocused.
• Take a deep breath, reflect, and remind yourself that you are stronger than the temptation.

Amplifying the Stories of Survivors
This October, we also want to shine a light on the stories of those who have faced breast cancer head-on. Their journeys of resilience remind us of the strength we are celebrating. If you know someone—a friend, family member, or loved one—who is willing to share their story as part of our campaign, we would love to hear from them. These stories of hope, courage, and endurance will inspire all of us to stay strong and sober. We’ll be sharing these journeys throughout the month, recognizing their voices and honoring their battles.

Together, We Are Stronger
As we move through this month, let’s remember that we are not alone. We are a community of faith, love, and resilience, lifting each other up. Every time we resist temptation, let’s honor someone fighting breast cancer. Every time we feel the urge to give in, let’s remind ourselves that we are stronger than that urge—and that together, we are supporting each other.
Throughout the month, we’ll share survivor stories, raise funds for breast cancer research, and encourage one another through weekly check-ins and challenges. Together, we’ll not only raise awareness but make a tangible difference in the lives of those affected by breast cancer.
So, let’s do this. Let’s make October a month of transformation—not just for ourselves but for the world. By choosing sobriety, we choose strength. By standing in solidarity, we choose hope. And when we face temptation, we’ll choose action—whether that’s through prayer, movement, or connection—over giving in.
Let’s raise our voices, our prayers, and our hearts for the fight against breast cancer.
Stay strong. Stay sober. Let’s support the fight, together.
