My last presentation for school

MBA 2013

Well I did it! Today I gave my last presentation for school and it was a true success. I thank God for giving me the will, strength, and determination to make it through my MBA program. It was such a wonderful day being surrounded by friends and family. We ate, we had drinks, we cheered, we toasted – all to the accomplishments that my cohort and I have achieved. One of the biggest surprises of the day was finding out that I made:

Sigma Beta Delta – an International Honor Society in Business, Management and Administration.

I am so proud of myself and my other three classmates that were inducted into this honor society.

At the end of the day, our professors made us all talk about our experience in the MBA program – It was nice to hear everyone speak. I am thankful that I had my friend Trisha Llanes to help me get through the program. She and I both leaned on each other over the last 18 months. When it was my turn to speak, I told the audience how grateful I am for God, my professors, my classmates and my family and friends. Then I went on to say what a wonderful cohort that I am apart of because they are all such loving and supporting individuals. And I thanked all of them for just supporting one another as we went through this program. And then they got to the end of the line and Wendy (such a sweetheart) begins to speak about her experience and she brings up the fact again that we are a cohort that cares and supports one another and she begins to walk towards ME. And I immediately begin to cry because I knew why she was walking towards me – holding a pink bag.

She hugs me and then hands me a book called “What Cancer Cannot Do”. My entire class had taken the time to sign it individually with encouraging messages. I was so emotional, and when I looked up, it seemed like the entire room was crying as well. Wendy had mentioned that I was battling cancer, and so I turned to the audience filled with the family and friends of my classmates and said – “I am battling breast cancer for the second time, didn’t I tell you all that I am a part of a wonderful cohort that supports one another – see – this is proof!” Once the program was done, everyone’s friends and family came up to me and informed me that they would support me and pray for me. I have committed my entire class as well as their families to all come over to my house and cook dinner for me ;) Lord I hope I don’t get fat lol…because I am going to make sure that I take everyone up on their offer. LOL! I feel loved, inspired, supported, encouraged, and ready! I will beat this again! I will come out on top and with a smile.

What a wonderful ending to a wonderful day.

Thank you everyone for your donations. Radiation begins April 23, 2013.
